So, you’ve been planning for ages- you’ve got the dress, the venue, the photographer and most importantly, the catering but wait.. the seating plan!
Arguably one of the most crucial points of the whole day. The seating plan brings questions like; will everyone get on? what if nobody speaks to each other? should I go for sociability or a comfort blanket of sitting certain people together?
Here, we give you some useful tips:
Name your number:
Think about your venue and the space available. How many tables will you have and how many people at each? A round, even number for each table will be perfect. Just because Chloe has turned up alone doesn’t mean she wants to be a gooseberry at the couples table. Pair off your single guests with another singleton to play cupid or sit them with a friend to ensure they are comfortable.
Mix and match:
It’s easy to put couples together who know each other but if you’re looking to get everyone chatting and socialising rather than grouping off, why not mix it up? Split the table down the middle and seat couples with others that they’ve never met before and watch them interact. It’s the ideal opportunity to bring new people together.
Your big day is all about you but during the meal and the reception, the guests have to join forces to have a good time, even if they already know each other. Throw some fun games on the table for everyone to enjoy. Perhaps the ever-competitive Top Trumps or getting each guest to tell the table a funny fact or story about themselves. It’s sure to create laughs and jokes all round.
Your wedding will be a magical day regardless of the dreaded seating arrangements so play around with different options and enjoy the planning!
