Well, imagine this: the two of you, standing there, you’re making a toast, and – together – you’re cutting into one of the largest, most beautiful, pork pies you’ve ever seen. A wedding pork pie. Three or four tiers of delicious artisan pork pie, stacked carefully one on top of each other. It makes quite the impact!
Delicious, golden, artisan pastry
A wedding pork pie has that wow factor for certain. It’s not just the mouthwatering smell of biscuity, hot water crust pastry and fresh, savoury pork filling that will have your guests in awe… it’s the golden crimped crust. It’s the handmade, artisan feel to a centrepiece. And believe it or not, it’s the moist, lovingly-reared, savoury pork filling, each layer a different flavour. The perfect complement to a glass of Champagne, a dry Prosecco, a craft beer or even a fine dry sherry for making after-dinner speeches and toasts.
A pork pie, the unique wedding cake!
There aren’t many artisan pork pie makers who can make celebration pork pies this size, and still guarantee the pastry will be as fresh on the day as the moment it came out of the oven. What’s more, our fillings have a reputation for being something else – and you can decide what you’d like us to bake for you: perhaps one tier that’s onion marmalade, one that’s chorizo and herbs, one that’s ‘naked’, or even one that’s lemon, garlic and parsley. You may be thinking “how does it work, how long does it keep…?” It’s okay, we’ve made celebration pork pies for hundreds of happy occasions, so we can take care of all those details.
Wedding pies – easier than it sounds
Using a decade of experience, we’ll help you decide how many tiers you need depending on the size of your reception. Bray’s Cottage Wedding Pork Pies arrive beautifully wrapped and in chilled packaging, making sure there’s nothing to worry about when it comes to transporting freshly baked goods from our bakery to your venue, your caterers or to your home. Then you can pop it into a fridge, as separate pies, to await the big day.
As for setting up the pie, that’s easy. You’ll need a nice strong table (there’s quite a lot of luscious pork pie!) and then the pies stack one on top of the other for the traditional ‘tiered’ effect. We send our wedding pork pies out naked, which means they’ll arrive without any herbs or flowers: all of the brides and grooms we’ve worked with tell us they (or their caterer) love to plan the ‘dressing’ of the pork pie to match the theme of the wedding, with their own special touch.
A ribbon here or there, some flowers and fresh herbs … it’s so easy to ask one of your caterers for a few sprigs of parsley and rosemary on the day. What’s more (if you ask us nicely), we can add your names or hearts on top in golden pastry– and of course, we always send out a sample pie for you to try!
