Morton’s Event Hire x Rookery Meadow Extravaganza

Our next big open day event is here! We are going to be at Rookery Meadow with all 3 of our styles of marquee ready for a weekend of fun! Read on for more information.

Two-day event this September celebrates marriage whilst supporting those who have decided to split.

Morton’s Event Hire and Rookery Meadow have teamed up for a two-day event on 29thand 30thSeptember showcasing some of East Anglia’s most bespoke venue and wedding suppliers.

Both from farming routes, the two family-owned events companies now help people create the perfect place to celebrate any occasion. This year they have joined forces for a wedding extravaganza like no other.

Morton’s Event Hire will be setting up all three of their fabulous marquees, a stunning traditional pole and line marquee, the totally unique ‘stretch’ tent, and their ever-versatile modular pods. Each will be decorated along a different theme to reflect the varying vibes that a marquee wedding can offer.

Suppliers from across East Anglia, including caterers, mobile bars, florists, musicians and venue stylists, will showcase their services at the family friendly, free to enter event.

Unlike other wedding fairs, the open weekend will be a chance to see what different styles of marquee look like. With vintage, rustic, classic and modern themes there will be a vibe to suit everyone to help couples really get a feel for what they could create.

“We want to show people just how unique a marquee wedding can be”, says Hollie Leech from Furthermore Marketing, who is helping to manage the event. “There are so many ways couples can put their own stamp on their big day. This event aims to inspire”.

Rob Walpole, owner of Rookery Meadow said, “It’s very rare to have the opportunity to see so many different marquees in one place, but we have the space to display them all! No two weddings are the same at Rookery Meadow so the event is a great chance to showcase how we can truly offer original and unique weddings.”

Rather than charge suppliers to exhibit at the open day, the event organisers are asking exhibitors to donate to a very worthy local charity, Norfolk Family Mediation Service.

“Weddings are all about celebrating the love that a couple shares on one of the happiest days of their lives”, explains Rob. “But not everyone is as lucky as our brides and grooms, so we have decided to use this event to support those whose relationships have sadly broken down.”

The event will run on 29th and 30th September at Rookery Meadow, Rookery Farm, St Margaret South Elmham, Harleston, IP20 0PN from 11am to 4pm each day. Entry is free.

A massive thank you for providing an amazing and unique tent for our wedding. We were both so glad we went with the stretch tent for something a bit different and we couldn’t have been more pleased! All of our guests said how fabulous it looked! A big thank you also to everyone at Morton’s for helping and answering all of our questions in the run up to our big day. I definitely feel I know more about luxury toilets and generators! We would recommend Morton’s to anyone planning a wedding and wanting a tent which is a little different.

We were delighted with the marquee supplied by Morton’s Events.

Our guests were bowled over by the interlinking hexagonal “pods” (as we called them) and all commented on how special it made the wedding breakfast seem. We managed to accomodate 170 guests in plentiful space while making it seem intimate and cosy.

Mortons’ staff were incredibly helpful,flexible and obliging and decorated the marquee beautifully,with fairy lights and a fabulous starcloth ceiling over the dance “pod”.

Together with table decorations designed by my daughter,the effect created was magical,or as one guest put it “breathtaking.”

We would unhesitatingly advise any family contemplating a wedding in a marquee to opt for Morton’s.

Morton’s were professional, accurate, knowledgable and nothing seemed a problem.


The pods lend themselves in any situation and function and looked far better than we had both dreamed of.

We had Mortons marques for our daughters wedding. With 200 guests we had 5 pods, a 5×5 square for the bar area and another as the entrance.

The seating for the guests wrapped round the dance floor giving a wonderful view to all and creating a great atmosphere. Mortons were so helpful always at the end of the phone and the whole day and all preparations went to plan. We would definitely use them again.
