Make way for those added extras

Of course at any event there are the main features of the day that would always be required; the venue, the catering, the guests, the tables but often overlooked are the cute and quirky extras that make your event special and get your guests talking. Are you planning a wedding that you want captured, a birthday which needs outrageous tasting cupcakes or the launch of a new product that requires a fantastic goodie bag to take away? Here are some fun additions to create a fabulously unique occasion for all.

Party favours:
Although not exactly expected from you by your guests, it’s always nice to give them a little something to leave with. Depending on the age range of the people attending, perhaps a hangover kit including necessities for the next day such as water, paracetamol and a bag of ready salted crisps. If you have younger children attending, maybe a cute pack of colouring pencils and a notepad with the date of your event for remembrance. Even something as small as pack of mints to show that you are ‘mint to be’ at your wedding can serve as a practical item or something for a memory box.

Pimped out stations:
Although everyone loves a basic, sometimes the basics need something extra to give them the wow factor. A simple glass of prosecco is lovely but imagine a station which gives you the option to add cordials or fruit to create your own unique flavour. Food is also down to personal taste so in cooperate that with a ‘make your own’ station such as pizza or tacos. Letting guests choose what they want will encourage eating and save on the leftovers – not so good for the hangover the next day but excellent in terms of getting the most for your money.

Create your own hashtag:
Instagram is the app of the moment so get on board with the trend and make your event stand out from the crowd online. By creating a hashtag for your family and friends to use, it captures your event from all angles, groups all the photos in one place and allows for everyone to access them. All while being a great conversation starter and fun for the guests.

Your event would be incredible without all the extras we’ve mentioned but adding something quirky can get everyone talking and may become the focal points of the day. Why not try with one or two and see what slots into your theme.

We were delighted with the marquee supplied by Morton’s Events.

Our guests were bowled over by the interlinking hexagonal “pods” (as we called them) and all commented on how special it made the wedding breakfast seem. We managed to accomodate 170 guests in plentiful space while making it seem intimate and cosy.

Mortons’ staff were incredibly helpful,flexible and obliging and decorated the marquee beautifully,with fairy lights and a fabulous starcloth ceiling over the dance “pod”.

Together with table decorations designed by my daughter,the effect created was magical,or as one guest put it “breathtaking.”

We would unhesitatingly advise any family contemplating a wedding in a marquee to opt for Morton’s.

We had Mortons marques for our daughters wedding. With 200 guests we had 5 pods, a 5×5 square for the bar area and another as the entrance.

The seating for the guests wrapped round the dance floor giving a wonderful view to all and creating a great atmosphere. Mortons were so helpful always at the end of the phone and the whole day and all preparations went to plan. We would definitely use them again.
