It’s the Season to Sparkle

A massive trend has hit Britain this Winter – the need for glamorous and extravagant sparkles! Whether this is in the form of golden confetti, touches of glitter, sequined gowns or bejewelled accessories – it’s all spot on trend.

The best part of this craze? It goes with any venue or theme – depending on the style you use the sparkle! Here our our suggestions for including this trend in your big day.

Dressed in Glitter & Gold

Do you want this shimmering gold look to be the lasting memory of your Wedding? Dress your Bridesmaids in over-the-top, golden gowns to wow your guests, whilst still getting to wear white yourself. If the full-length shimmer is too outrageous for you – or the girls – then you can find, a little more expensive, accented sequined dresses.

Glitter or jewelled accessories tend to go best with simple gowns, so if you want to add a sparkle to a lace dress this is the perfect way! Tie in your shoes, jewellery and hair using crystals of diamonds. A sparkling, ribbon belt or sequined heels are understated and classy, and still on trend. If you want to match to your sequin bridesmaids, then glitter nails or makeup can pull your style into the theme.

If you want to be a statement bride and be the shining beauty of the event, then there are some stunning bridal, sequin dresses on the market for this trend. White or clear shimmering beads make a sophisticated looking gown that is still in line with tradition, or even shiny little pearls sewn into the dress. Another way to incorporate glitter is to have ‘hot spots’ or clusters. On well-designed dresses these look like a gradient rainfall of sparkle. The key to pulling off this look is choosing a base colour and making sure you don’t go over-the-top.

How much glitter is too much glitter?

When planning your Wedding day you should have a mantra in your head ‘Will this still look good in 20 years?’

Small touches of sparkle using decorations is actually a fine art. This is because it is extremely hard to plan what everything will look like together on the day – unlike decorating your bedroom where you can put it all together and see if it works.

As per usual, we suggest Pinterest as a source for inspiration when it comes to décor. Pin EVERYTHING with sparkles to a board, and at the end you can go through and decide what you would like and what would be too much.

A massive thank you for providing an amazing and unique tent for our wedding. We were both so glad we went with the stretch tent for something a bit different and we couldn’t have been more pleased! All of our guests said how fabulous it looked! A big thank you also to everyone at Morton’s for helping and answering all of our questions in the run up to our big day. I definitely feel I know more about luxury toilets and generators! We would recommend Morton’s to anyone planning a wedding and wanting a tent which is a little different.

We were delighted with the marquee supplied by Morton’s Events.

Our guests were bowled over by the interlinking hexagonal “pods” (as we called them) and all commented on how special it made the wedding breakfast seem. We managed to accomodate 170 guests in plentiful space while making it seem intimate and cosy.

Mortons’ staff were incredibly helpful,flexible and obliging and decorated the marquee beautifully,with fairy lights and a fabulous starcloth ceiling over the dance “pod”.

Together with table decorations designed by my daughter,the effect created was magical,or as one guest put it “breathtaking.”

We would unhesitatingly advise any family contemplating a wedding in a marquee to opt for Morton’s.

Morton’s were professional, accurate, knowledgable and nothing seemed a problem.


The pods lend themselves in any situation and function and looked far better than we had both dreamed of.

We had Mortons marques for our daughters wedding. With 200 guests we had 5 pods, a 5×5 square for the bar area and another as the entrance.

The seating for the guests wrapped round the dance floor giving a wonderful view to all and creating a great atmosphere. Mortons were so helpful always at the end of the phone and the whole day and all preparations went to plan. We would definitely use them again.
