With Spring comes the start of the wedding season, then the summer starts and its all hands to the deck. For us at Purple Plum Catering, weddings mean beautiful food to wow guests and leave the happy couple with the biggest of smiles. The summer season really brings out a different type of wedding as the scope for the whole day of food changes – you have more space to play, different areas, different themes and different ideas. Here are some of our favourites of 2016 so far:
Festival & Village Fete
It’s lovely watching the guests being amused with music and entertainers. The food has a different emphasis with bowl food and sharing platters coming to the fore, food can be eaten on their laps or standing with beautiful sharing platters really bringing some color to the day and it helps to bring people together, chatting over food.
Beaches have also been great fun. We have themed them with blankets laid out on the sand, hampers filled with freshly made sandwiches, homemade cocktails, lightly home baked classic cakes and fresh fruit platters.
A recent acquisition has been a stunning Maharani tent, we set it up for the evenings, as a summer bar with fresh minted cocktails, where guests can lay back relaxing as the music wafts over them, they have eaten sharing platters of Middle Eastern delights and breathing in the heady scent of the summer! It makes me wish I was the guest, every time!
