Thanks to the rate at which photo and print technology has evolved in recent years there is now a staggering array of photo print options available. Waiting 2 weeks for your local chemist to deliver a grainy borderless matte ‘six by four’ is ancient history. In fact, much of the current Instagram generation weren’t even around to witness such archaic photo printing.
Objects such a mugs, t-shirts, canvass bags, stationary etc. can readily be printed on cheaply and quickly, often quickly enough for you to get done in your lunch break. That’s not to say you necessarily want the most special and stunning day of your life captured forever on a pencil case or keyring but it does mean you can afford to think outside the box in creatively capturing some of your most cherished moments.
There is an ever expanding plethora of ideas for printing your wedding photos. If you can conceive it – it can most probably be printed on but here are a few classy, elegant and simple ideas which you might like to consider…
After all your prints are going to be in your family’s household for a lifetime or more so it might be worth just a little investment.
Wood Mounted Photo Boards or Wood Prints
Your photos presented carefully on ¾ inch thick lightly coloured wood adds a nice value to your photos. Wood mounted photo boards come ready to hang on the wall or sit well on wooden furniture like dressing tables or mantelpieces. If you’ve given your photos an edit or they’ve been given an Instagram-like filter, then be sure to match the tone with the correct wood type. If you wish you can go large for a grand centre piece with a wood grid board. This way you can mix and match your favourite photos over the years, arranging them in any shape you like. Printing on wood looks great and has rustic charm, especially if matching your home décor.
Engineer prints are a larger grander alternative which are usually black and white and plotted on printers traditionally used for engineering and architectural work. Engineer prints can look artistic and elegant, by lacking in greater detail and high resolution.
These prints are usually simple, easy on the eye and mounted somewhere centrally, without clutter. Engineer prints are reasonably priced. They tend to be a little unusual and add a degree of classiness to your home. Framed or hanged as a canvass, they look great.
Collage prints are a fun and trendy way of collecting a multitude of photo memories and putting them all in one place. This ensures that you don’t miss any cherished memories and with a splash of colour they can look lively and energetic. Collage prints can be framed (with a large white border which adds a touch of class), stuck to your fridge or simply tacked to the wall as a traditional poster.
The Traditional Photo Album
The traditional photo album may have fallen out of favour in recent years perhaps in part due to the range of modern alternatives at our disposal. The classic photo album many of us grew up with (thick pages with 6×4 photos encased in plastic) is also increasingly hard to source. However, with a bit of research you’ll be sure to find some chic options, some of them leather bound and durable.
Thank You Postcard
Wedding prints as postcards may be cheap to print but that doesn’t mean they can’t be in vogue and stylish. Your wedding guests will love your best photos sent out as thank you postcards in the preceding weeks from your wedding. Printed on thick card there’s no reason why you can’t frame your best postcards and keep a collection as mementos for further on own the line.
