Frequently Asked Questions

What size marquee do I require?
The size of the marquee we would recommend is generally determined by the number of guests at the event, whilst bearing in mind that further room is required for dancing, bar and food servery areas. For the best results though, a site visit would be recommended.

Do you do a site survey?
Yes, we can arrange a site survey at your convenience. This is free of charge and without obligation.

How much does a marquee cost?
The cost of a marquee is dependent on a number of factors such as size, lining etc. For a better idea please give us a call and we can discuss your requirements.

What is the difference between traditional and hex frame marquees?
A traditional pole marquee is supported by a number of ropes, poles and stakes. Internally a traditional marquee has higher ceilings and tall central poles. The hex frame marquees (pods) are aluminium structures, again with I high ceiling which is supported via a center pole. For a better idea view our gallery.

Can your marquees be erected on all surfaces?
We have solutions for any surface but a traditional marquee can only be erected on grass. Please call our team to discuss your requirements and we can arrange a site visit.

Are marquees suitable all year round?
Yes, they can be adequately heated throughout the colder months by using industrial blow heaters.

Can you connect a marquee to a building?
Our marquees have been used as extensions to houses and restaurants in the past. We can also supply covered walkways to or from buildings.

Will a marquee damage my lawn?
No, there will be some small pins holes left in the grass but they should recover in time. Any covered area of grass should grow back in about 2 weeks.

What day would you erect the marquee?
For a weekend wedding we would generally build on a wednesday or thursday, smaller parties maybe left for a friday. However, the actual date of erection is set a week before the event when all jobs are booked in.

Are there any hidden charges?
No, all of our quotations are itemised, any possible extras such as insurance are also mentioned in the quotation.

What about insurance?
We offer damage waiver as part of all our bookings

What is muta and are you a member?
Mutamarq operates the UK’s only independent inspectorate of marquees to ensure both quality and safety and yes we are a member.

How and when do I pay?
A 30% non-refundable booking deposit is required before the event in order to secure the availability of the marquee, the rest of the payment is to be paid after the event.

Can the walls be opened?
All of our marquees have removable or roll up walls

Can I pin decoratitions to the lining?
We do not allow safety pins to be used on our linings as these will lead to the material being damaged, there are alternatives available such as small plastic cloths pegs.

Are candles acceptable in the marquee?
As a rule we only allow tea light candles in the marquee, please enquire with us when booking.

How far in advance do I need to book?
As a rule to get your guaranteed date you require and equipment needed we would allways  recommend booking  11-12 months in advance

Can I add to my order nearer the time?
We understand that guest numbers can fluctuate closer to your event and we will allways where possible amend your order to suit.

How can we run power to the marquee?
A generator is normally the best option for a large marquee wedding as it is all self contained and will generally cover most requirements for caterers, disco, lighting toilets etc. We can run cables from a house socket for lighting and heating.

Will our marquee be warm enough?
In our stock we carry gas and oil fired indirect heaters that can be hired nearer the time if the weather turns colder

Will the marquee have windows on it?
We allow for some windows on each build we do, if you require extra windows over and above our allocation these can be added to your original quote.

Can your marquees be erected in awkward places?
Because of our hex pod design we are probably the best solution for tight spaces, please see our gallery for layout ideas.




A massive thank you for providing an amazing and unique tent for our wedding. We were both so glad we went with the stretch tent for something a bit different and we couldn’t have been more pleased! All of our guests said how fabulous it looked! A big thank you also to everyone at Morton’s for helping and answering all of our questions in the run up to our big day. I definitely feel I know more about luxury toilets and generators! We would recommend Morton’s to anyone planning a wedding and wanting a tent which is a little different.

We were delighted with the marquee supplied by Morton’s Events.

Our guests were bowled over by the interlinking hexagonal “pods” (as we called them) and all commented on how special it made the wedding breakfast seem. We managed to accomodate 170 guests in plentiful space while making it seem intimate and cosy.

Mortons’ staff were incredibly helpful,flexible and obliging and decorated the marquee beautifully,with fairy lights and a fabulous starcloth ceiling over the dance “pod”.

Together with table decorations designed by my daughter,the effect created was magical,or as one guest put it “breathtaking.”

We would unhesitatingly advise any family contemplating a wedding in a marquee to opt for Morton’s.

Morton’s were professional, accurate, knowledgable and nothing seemed a problem.


The pods lend themselves in any situation and function and looked far better than we had both dreamed of.

We had Mortons marques for our daughters wedding. With 200 guests we had 5 pods, a 5×5 square for the bar area and another as the entrance.

The seating for the guests wrapped round the dance floor giving a wonderful view to all and creating a great atmosphere. Mortons were so helpful always at the end of the phone and the whole day and all preparations went to plan. We would definitely use them again.
